The year 2017 marks the 10th year since the iPhone was launched, and if we are to believe recent reports, it looks like Apple will make sure the iPhone 8 (or iPhone X) will drown out the competition.
Recent reports indicate Robert Hwang, CEO of Wistron (a company that assembles iPhones) confirmed during a shareholders meeting that the iPhone 8 will be waterproof (not just water resistant) and will have wireless charging capabilities.
“Assembly process for the previous generations of [iPhones] have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing”
This is a game changer if Apple pulls through with waterproofing the iPhone. However, my gut tells me the message somehow got lost in translation and what he actually meant was “water resistant”. Then again, that is not a new feature of the iPhone, so we will have to wait until they release the iPhone 8.
Other confirmed specs include having a 5.8 inch Samsung OLED display and the rumored on-screen fingerprint sensor. Also present is a 3D facial recognition technology and a vertically-arranged dual camera. The iPhone 8 is expected to be announced along with the iPhone 7s, and 7s Plus and will reportedly start at $1000.00
