Samsung and Apple has never shied away, publicizing their plans to launch a phone with an on-screen finger print scanner. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ were supposed to have it, and when it didn’t, the Note 8 was seen as next in line. We know by now it wouldn’t materialize as well. Apple, on the other hand, is still months away from launching the iPhone 8 (or iPhone X), which is rumored to feature the technology. However, one Chinese smartphone company is stepping up to the plate and will try to one-up the two electronics giants.
New reports indicate Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has a working prototype of a phone with an on-screen finger print scanner.

As shown in the video, the person was able to unlock the phone by simply touching the display. No fingerprint scanner was present in the phone’s back or upfront. While we are excited, we need to take this with a grain of salt. Vivo could possibly showcase the prototype when they hold their event on June 28 in Shanghai, China.
