If you’re looking to buy the new Microsoft Surface laptop, you might want to check out this video tear down from iFixIt.
Apparently, Microsoft’s newest laptop isn’t for the DIY-er nor is it service center friendly. It scored a disappointing 0 out 10 for repairability. Everything, from the suede like Alcantara lined keyboard, to the internal parts are mostly held by glue or soldered, so trying to pry it open for repair or upgrades will result to insurmountable damage and tear. Also, the battery is hard to replace, giving it limited life span. iFixIt also pointed out that historically, the Microsoft Surface lineup, has not scored well on their repairability ranking.
