While Apple and Samsung kept hyping up the on-display fingerprint scanner, promising to deliever the tech in their upcoming smartphones, Vivo, a Chinese smartphone brand, beat them to it.
Freshly unveiled in the on-going Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, the video showcases a concept phone that utilizes the on-display scanner, using what looks like sonar technology. Watch the trailer below:
It’s reported they got a big help from chip maker Qualcomm, which was able to produce the finger print sensor for the prototype phone. They are calling the technology Under Display.
The concept phone isn’t in full production yet but the technology will certainly be a game changer and makes the race for a full glass display phone a whole lot more interesting.
