The infamous Galaxy Note 7 will hit stores in South Korea this week and will take on a new name; Galaxy Note 7 FE (Fan Edition). You’d truly need to be a die-hard Note Fan to buy one. The phone, which made headlines last year for bursting into flames and had to to be banned from airplanes, will be retailing at around $610. Samsung assures these refurbished units will use different batteries and have undergone through safety checks.
Last year, Samsung had to recall almost 3 million Note 7 units worldwide. To alleviate the loss they incurred, Samsung is selling the Note 7 again as refurbished phones. This is a big gamble for South Korea’s biggest tech company as their upcoming Galaxy Note 8 is slated to be released sometime in August or September this year. The move will definitely have an impact on the sales of their latest flagship Note 8, whether the Note 7 FE caught flame again or not.
