Sharp to re-join bezel-less smartphone race

Curious why we used the word “re-join” on the title? Well, that’s because it was actually Sharp who outed the first bezel-less phone back in 2014, with the Sharp Aquos Crystal; clearly the inspiration for the Xiaomi Mi Mix.

The bezel-less phone didn’t pan out as Sharp would have hoped for but seeing how it’s the trend in smartphones right now, the Japan based company is jumping on the bandwagon it started years ago.

A leaked image shows a new Sharp bezel-less phone which will be announced in an official event on July 17. The phone will come in two variants and will take on the name FS8010 (with Snapdragon 660) and FS8016 (with Snapdragon 630).

According to leaks and Antutu Benchmark results, the handsets will run the latest version of Android and will sport a 5.5-inch display, dual 12MP rear cameras, 8MP front camera, 4 or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
