Admit it. Testing the speed of your internet connection has become synonymous with one application; Ookla’s Speedtest.
For years, Speedtest became my go to app for testing connection speed whenever I connect to an internet network. Speedtest is good at what it does, but the presence of ads has started to turn me away, on top of an aging user interface. Enter Meteor.
While browsing for an alternative, I stumbled upon Meteor by opensignal.com. What first caught my attention was the up-to-date, modern, and clean user interface.
It features a flat UI design which has been the standard for a few years now. It even integrates a map depicting the locations where you have tested the connection and ranks them accordingly. There is also a floating bubble called Message Monster which shows tips on how to properly use the app.
Another unique functionality which separates Meteor from the competition is that you can test your favorite apps against your benchmark score and Meteor will tell you how that app will perform based on your current internet speed.
Pretty neat! Oh did I mention, No presence of Ads! Check out their promotional video below.
Meteor is free to download and is supported both on IOS and Android.
